Nestled in the Kep countryside, in the heart of generous nature, Chamkar Damnak<\/strong> is much more than a simple plantation. It\u2019s a place for living, sharing and passion, where organic farming, respect for traditions and hospitality come together every day. <\/p>\n\n

Located within the prestigious Protected Geographical Indication (PGI)<\/strong> area for Kampot pepper, our farm carries on agricultural know-how passed down through several generations, while developing a modern, sustainable approach that respects the environment.<\/p>\n\n

\n\n

A plantation steeped in history<\/h1>\n\n

Before the war, our property was part of Chamkar H\u00e2ng<\/strong>, the \u201cH\u00e2ng plantation\u201d, named after its original owner, the family\u2019s Chinese grandfather.<\/p>\n\n

Even today, this history guides the way we work.<\/p>\n\n

Our ambition is not to produce more, but to produce better.<\/p>\n\n

We favour organic farming, where each crop benefits from a preserved natural environment.<\/p>\n\n

One of the plantation\u2019s distinctive features is the use of a fertiliser that is as natural as it is exceptional: that of our elephants, raised in Ratanakiri province, where our family has also been established for many years.<\/p>\n\n

\n\n

A generous land<\/h1>\n\n

Pepper naturally remains Chamkar Damnak\u2019s flagship crop.<\/p>\n\n

We produce the four main varieties of Kampot pepper:<\/p>\n\n

  • Black pepper<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • White pepper<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Red pepper<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Green pepper<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n

    Appreciated by chefs and spice lovers alike, our peppers are mainly distributed through word of mouth.<\/p>\n\n

    But our plantation doesn\u2019t stop there.<\/p>\n\n

    As the seasons go by, we also grow:<\/p>\n\n

      \n
    • mangoes;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • durians;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • mangosteens;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • jackfruit trees;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • dragon fruit;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • banana trees;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • nearly 10,000 sandalwood trees<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n

      This diversity contributes to the ecological richness of our estate and makes it possible to fully showcase the exceptional terroir of Kep-Kampot.<\/p>\n\n

      \n\n

      A farm where life is good<\/h1>\n\n

      Chamkar Damnak also welcomes travellers who want to discover Cambodia differently.<\/p>\n\n

      Our guesthouse has five rooms:<\/p>\n\n

        \n
      • four rooms upstairs;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • one ground-floor room with a private bathroom.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n

        Meals are served in a traditional sala<\/strong>, open onto the garden, where everyone can fully enjoy the surrounding peace and quiet.<\/p>\n\n

        Here, the pace is set by nature.<\/p>\n\n

        Days are lulled by birdsong, the rustle of leaves and the scents of the plantations.<\/p>\n\n

        \n\n

        Accommodation that respects its environment<\/h1>\n\n

        True to our philosophy, we have chosen a 100% solar<\/strong> power supply.<\/p>\n\n

        The entire farm runs on photovoltaic energy.<\/p>\n\n

        To limit our energy consumption, the rooms are equipped with fans rather than air conditioning.<\/p>\n\n

        This choice fully reflects our desire to preserve the environment while offering a comfortable stay.<\/p>\n\n

        \n\n

        A tropical garden<\/h1>\n\n

        The garden surrounding the house was created gradually over the years.<\/p>\n\n

        You\u2019ll discover a collection of tropical plants brought back from different countries in Asia, as well as from the Indian Ocean.<\/p>\n\n

        At the heart of the property, a small natural spring bubbles up between two hills.<\/p>\n\n

        It supplies the house and provides the water needed for the plantation\u2019s various crops.<\/p>\n\n

        \n\n

        A human-scale family farm<\/h1>\n\n

        Chamkar Damnak now covers nearly 20 hectares<\/strong>, in the Damnak Chang Euv<\/strong> district.<\/p>\n\n

        Our farm employs:<\/p>\n\n

        • three permanent employees;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • around ten seasonal workers during harvests.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n

          This deliberately family-style organisation allows us to maintain artisanal production and real control over the quality of each of our crops.<\/p>\n\n
