Pierre-Yves & Chenda Clais<\/h3>\r\n The Founders<\/span>\r\n <\/div> \r\n\r\n

\r\n Married since 1997, Chenda and Pierre-Yves are two sides\r\n of the same medallion.\r\n <\/p>\r\n\r\n

\r\n Pierre-Yves lives to the rhythm of his passions and the thousand and one\r\n ideas that come to him, Chenda lives to the rhythm of the administration\r\n of their common creations.\r\n <\/p> \r\n\r\n

\r\n Daughter of a doctor who died under Pol Pot, Chenda comes from a\r\n Cambodian family in Phnom Penh, while Pierre-Yves is\r\n a former UN mission paratrooper, who came to Cambodia\r\n to live his dreams of adventure. In 1997, they married and then opened\r\n a hotel in the former governor's residence of Ratanakiri\r\n in Banlung.\r\n <\/p>\r\n\r\n

\r\n During his many escapades with passing travelers,\r\n Pierre-Yves learned to know this forest and the\r\n twelve ethnic groups living there, gradually becoming a doctor,\r\n advisor, and friend to some of these villages. Ratanakiri is\r\n therefore a special region for the Clais couple, who maintain\r\n an intimate relationship with this remote province of Cambodia.\r\n <\/p>\r\n\r\n <\/div>\r\n\r\n <\/section>\r\n\r\n

\r\n In 1995, he launched an information website, then in 2006,\r\n he began to build a vast individual database\r\n on captive elephants, meticulously recording\r\n their location, history, and pedigree of breeding elephants.\r\n \r\n <\/p>\r\n\r\n

\r\n This database now includes over\r\n 15,000 records of deceased elephants and 8,654\r\n records of living elephants in captivity, with\r\n each of the 2,938 location facilities in\r\n hundreds of countries across six continents!\r\n <\/p>\r\n\r\n

\r\n International veterinary expertise at the bedside\r\n of Asian elephants.\r\n <\/p> \r\n\r\n

\r\n Elephant protection relies above all on advanced medical care,\r\n rigorous ethics, and an intimate knowledge\r\n of the biology of these vulnerable giants.\r\n <\/p>\r\n\r\n

\r\n A\u00efravata has the privilege of collaborating with Dr. Roopan\r\n Navaneetha Krishnan, a surgeon and wildlife veterinarian\r\n specializing in wildlife, whose dedication and\r\n expertise radiate throughout Southeast Asia.\r\n <\/p> \r\n\r\n <\/div>\r\n\r\n <\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n

\r\n A career forged in the field\r\n <\/h3>\r\n\r\n

\r\n Trained in wildlife medicine and with solid experience\r\n within the Wildlife Rescue Unit (WRU) of the\r\n Sabah Wildlife Department in Malaysia, Dr. Roopan\r\n has dedicated a large part of his career to the rescue,\r\n treatment, and rehabilitation of Borneo pygmy elephants\r\n as well as other endangered species.\r\n <\/p>\r\n\r\n

\r\n Accustomed to emergency interventions in the most isolated forest\r\n environments, he masters the complex art of\r\n standing sedation, major surgeries, and intensive care\r\n in the wild.\r\n <\/p>\r\n\r\n <\/article>\r\n\r\n\r\n

\r\n\r\n 02<\/span>\r\n\r\n

\r\n At the forefront of the fight against EEHV\r\n <\/h3>\r\n\r\n

\r\n Dr. Roopan is also involved in research and early\r\n diagnosis of EEHV\r\n (Elephant Endotheliotropic Herpesvirus), a fulminant viral infection\r\n that constitutes one of the most serious\r\n threats to young Asian elephants.\r\n <\/p> \r\n\r\n

\r\n In connection with leading research centers, such\r\n as the veterinary team of Chiang Mai University in\r\n Thailand, he actively works on deploying PCR molecular\r\n diagnostic protocols and advanced supportive therapies.\r\n\r\n <\/p>\r\n\r\n

\r\n His skills also cover dental\r\n and maxillofacial surgery, including the treatment of fractured\r\n or infected tusks, as well as the management of\r\n traumas related to human-elephant conflict and poaching.\r\n <\/p> \r\n\r\n <\/article>\r\n\r\n <\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n
